Adoption Counselor

We are looking for adoption counselor to do home visits in the Central Denver area, Longmont, and Ft Collins.  If you have been looking for an opportunity to become more involved with CGA, consider helping out in this important part of the process for our hounds to find their forever homes.  You will be trained in our adoption procedures.

Description of Duties:

When an application for adoption comes in, it is sent to a CGA adoption counselor who lives in the nearby area.   The AC then contacts the family and sets up a time to go to their house and do a home visit.  After the home visit is complete, the AC writes up a short home visit report and sends it to the adoption team.  As dogs become available, the AC will be notified of a dog that might be a good match for their family. The AC reviews the dog’s profile and calls and talks with the foster families and adopting family. If the Adoption Counselor and the foster family agree that it is a good potential match, the Adoption Counselor puts the adopting family in touch with the foster family to complete the adoption process. The time commitment can vary depending on the number of applications.

Requirements:

Experience with greyhounds – preferably have owned more than one since they can be so different.  Have a Greyhound to take to the home visit.

Access to a computer, with internet and email.

Availability to read and respond to emails daily.

Transportation to travel to adopter’s homes.

Ability to communicate well with a wide variety of people.

Ability to represent CGA as a racing neutral organization.

Love talking about greyhounds!!
