Meet our available dogs

Where to find us!

Here are our upcoming events — Come meet some wonderful greyhounds. If you have a greyhound, come and volunteer!

Colorado Gives Dedication Donations:

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who donated during Colorado Gives Day. Your generosity fuels our mission to find forever homes for retired racing greyhounds—and every dollar helps us provide food, medical care, and loving foster homes for these wonderful hounds

This year, we were especially moved by those who gave in honor or memory of a beloved greyhound, friend, or family member. We are sharing these dedication donations with you!

 Thank you for supporting CGA.

SPOTLIGHT HOUND: Jessie

Jessie’s Holiday Wish: Someone to Call His Own

Cue the soft 80s guitar riff… because Jessie’s dreaming of finding his forever home. If Rick Springfield were here, he’d be singing “I wish that you were Jessie's human…”

Hi, I’m Jessie—and this holiday season, I’m wishing on every twinkling light, every drifting snowflake, and every squeaky toy that my forever human is out there looking for me too.

My brother Carmelo has already found his happily-ever-after, and now it’s my time!   Like a love song, my story gets sweeter the longer you read (listen).

I’m tall and handsome—like a rockstar who wandered offstage and into your living room.  I was brought into CGA from a shelter and without tattoos, so no one knows exactly how old I am. They say I’m 7–10 years old, but my foster parents think I’m closer to 7. I might not be a purebred greyhound—my fluffy neck and tail feathers hint at a touch of borzoi magic. Think of me as a limited-edition model.

Like all rockstars I come with a back story.  I’m working through something called “fear regression.” I need a backyard where I can do my business. The backyard is my happy place—squirrels, birds, breezes, and leaves – yes, please!  I’m not “hounded” by groupies wanting my autograph.  But the front yard? Yikes! Leashes are a little scary, walks are a little overwhelming, and I’d rather stay inside where it’s quiet and safe. Why go out when you have all you need inside?  My foster parents are helping me be brave, and I’ve started peeking my head out the door for a sniff or two. I’m shy with new people, so I’ll need time to warm up. I don’t love car rides, but I’ll hop in if I have a bandmate (buddy) along. I adore my crate, but I don’t like being alone for long—so tell me where you’re going and when you’ll be back, and I’ll be okay.  I had some dental work done, but my appetite is strong and I’m not picky about food or treats! In fact, I don’t need to counter surf because I’m so tall that everything is already at nose level.

I’d love a home with another dog who enjoys my company—and can help me settle in.  My foster home currently has a cat living here too... she’s bossy and swats at me for no reason. I try to ignore her now, even if the humans laugh (I don’t think it’s funny, but I’m being the bigger hound – she’s just jealous).

I bounce with joy at mealtime and when I come in from the backyard.  I do a celebratory bed romp before settling in for a snooze. I’m a lazy boy at heart and happiest when I’m curled up near you. Once I trust you, I’m gentle, calm, and full of quiet love.

So if you’ve ever wished you had Jessie’s girl, well, here’s Jessie (boy), waiting with hope in my big brown eyes.

Reach out to Colorado Greyhound Adoption to meet me. Let’s make this holiday the beginning of our forever.

Adoption Application

URGENT - WE NEED FOSTERS!!!

We have greyhounds coming in!

We have retired racers coming in November and December and we need foster families.

Without foster families, we cannot bring in greyhounds for adoption!

Just imagine not being able to adopt one of these wonderful greyhounds because there are no foster families?

Fostering greyhounds plays a crucial role in helping these retired racing dogs transition into family pets, acclimating the hounds to home life.

So what does it take  become a foster family?

You must complete a Foster Application, followed by a home visit from a CGA representative. Once approved, CGA provides necessary supplies and vet care--you provide the love, care, and home.

You will work with a dedicated foster coordinator, who will help answer questions, along with access to a google group made up with other foster families.

Questions? Contact info@greyhoundadoption.com

Donate Food for Fosters!

Now you can help CGA in a different way! With all of the greyhounds coming in to CGA, our foster hounds need food! Donating foster food is fast (like a greyhound) and easy. Click on the button below to see CGA’s Amazon Wish List. Select the food you’d like to donate from our list. It will be shipped to one of our coordinators. We all know how sensitive greyhound tummies can be, so we’ve made it easy by limiting the number of options. Please donate now!

At checkout you will see a shipping address option listed as "Morgan Fields' Gift Registry Address". Please select that one.
